The new sleepwear collection for Autumn 2020 champions Liberty’s gothic revival movement of the late 1960s.
The in house designers have transformed and re-imagined design within the liberty archive. Drawing on a wide array of baroque, ornate and proudly eccentric designs.

The Liberty Fabrics Logo collection celebrates Liberty’s iconic ‘L’ monogram – originally created in 1948 and revived in 1950. Developed by the in-house design team and available exclusively on silk satin, the Logo collection captures the spirit of our unapologetically eccentric brand through a new, typographic lens.

I came across the incredible artist Liz Spencer – known as @thedogwooddyer on Instagram. Her videos are hypnotising with fabulous hand dye techniques; foraging flowers and plants to create the most beautiful bespoke garments.
Her Bio reads : ‘With experience tending organic natural dye gardens nestled between rows of a family heritage orange grove in southern California, the urban sidewalks of Brooklyn New York, and in the tradition of an English community garden in London, Liz Spencer has devoted an artistic practice to her insatiable curiosity of coaxing color from plants.’
‘Liz holds a BA from Linfield College & an MA from the famed sustainable fashion program at the London College of Fashion. She has taught fashion, sustainability, and natural dyeing at Parsons the New School and continually teaches at the Fashion Institute of Technology. Liz is now finding a new rhythm by the ocean in Oceanside, CA.’

150 Years of the Royal School of Needlework: Crown to Catwalk
Now on at the fashion and textile museum: London. A retrospective exploring the often-surprising history of one of the UK’s oldest and most revered applied arts organisations.
In 1872, the Royal School of Needlework (RSN) was founded on two key principles – the first, the preservation of hand embroidery as an art form and the second, the support of women’s independence through work. In the intervening 150 years, the RSN’s journey towards these goals has taken many unexpected forms and featured countless high-profile projects.

The exhibition will present collaborations with the great names of the Arts and Crafts movement, commissions produced for the British royal family, contemporary works created for top, international designers and pieces by the RSN’s talented students.

Presenting textiles from the Royal School of Needlework’s own 5,000-piece archive, alongside examples from museums and collections across the UK, this in-depth retrospective will display the often surprising history of one of the UK’s oldest and most revered applied arts organisations.
The exhibition is curated by Dennis Nothdruft, head of exhibitions at the Fashion and Textile Museum, in collaboration with Dr Susan Kay-Williams, chief executive at the Royal School of Needlework.

A lovely recent project: Vintage Prada coat restoration & Upcycle. This coat came to us with multiple areas of unfixable damage, and we were given complete free reign to create this beautiful design. We produced machine embroidered appliqués on tulle which were carefully hand beaded and tacked to the coat to cover the areas of damage. Particularly love the colour palette of this one🪐 Designed & Embroidered @handandlocklondon
Here at The Print affair we are always on the look out for fabulous prints and inspiring designers. We happened to stumble across the amazingly talented Lauren Perrin.
Lauren is a French designer based in London who creates sustainable tights and gloves, all manufactured in the UK. Whilst working in London a styling assistant, Lauren was regularly asked to source brightly coloured and patterned tights to add a pop of colour to curated looks. Frustrated by the overall conventionality and lack of variety offered by other brands, she decided to explore her own designs, and so Lauren Perrin was born.
The garments and accessories you will probably have already seen without realising as many celebrities have been recently donning these wacky and striking print. The likes of Harry Styles and Miley Cyrus to name a few.
